I signed up for Qigong classes with very little prior knowledge of the practice, only with a desire to find alternatives to western medicine to maintain my health. From the start I was amazed at the effect it had on me. Mary patiently and thoroughly educated the class on Qigong’s purpose and history and then prepared us mentally before teaching us the movements. I could clearly see that the routines are refined over years of continuous practice but I saw results immediately. Knee and ankle pain that had plagued me for years has been reduced to almost nothing after practicing the movements a few times (my western doctor told me to manage it with ibuprofen and to basically live with it).  And the results are more than reduced physical pain. The meditative nature of the practice has also enabled me to lower my blood pressure! Needless to say, as a newcomer to Eastern medicine, I am truly excited to have discovered something that has and will continue to be so life changing.

Zhineng Qigong Winter Series: 10 Weeks of Inner Peace

A seasonal deeper-dive into the healing practice of medical qigong for those looking to begin or continue a more intensive practice.

WHEN:

Dates: Wednesday Evenings 1/29/2020 – 4/1/2020 (10 Wednesdays total)

Time: 7-8pm

WHAT:

Are you ready to cultivate joy and deep inner peace?

Medical Zhineng Qigong training emphasizes consciously using the mind intent to focus inward to transform, to improve, and to enhance life functions and abilities of the body. Mental, posture and breathing adjustments are the extensions of the inward training. It is training which enables the participants to transform natural instinctive activities into conscious activities.

“We cultivate our own life energy through accessing nature’s great store of life energy (Qi). This approach produces quick results. But cultivating one’s Qi is not the most fundamental; cultivating one’s spirit is. Mastery of Qi is really achieved through mastery of consciousness. We use consciousness in a careful, craftsman-like way, to shape our life, to attain our goals. If we use modern terminology to name this process, we call it Qigong… in modern terms, Qigong is the refinement of consciousness to enhance the state of energy in the body. This leads to vibrant health, a harmonious body and mind, and awakened spiritual life.”

-Dr. Pang Ming, creator of Zhineng Qigong.

This means we practice a series of gentle and profound meditative movements designed to relieve chronic stress and pain (mind and body), increase vitality (bring qi/energy to organ systems of the whole body) plus improve conditions related to common ailments such as insomnia, depression and stress. We focus on enhancing the functions and abilities of the entire body to create inner peace and cultivate joy.

What IS Zhineng Qigong, anyway?

Zhineng Qigong, or medical qigong, is a series of meditative body movements, but really a life practice that leads to improved health, an experience of inner peace, balance, joy, and the unfolding of your inherent wisdom.

A targeted sub-set of qigong –– Hunyuan Qi Therapy is a type of energy work predicated on creating balance and flow among your body, mind, spirit, and qi, or energy –– it’s one of the most effective ways to both address ongoing issues as well as amplify the effects of other beneficial practices, like meditation, good eating habits, and sleep.
